1969 BSA B44VS Victor Special
Uncluttered, pure, simple, and fast, the B44 Victor was BSA’s successful and approachable replacement for the venerable 500cc Gold Star. Though lacking the out-and-out credibility and performance of its predecessor, the Victor Special was nonetheless a respectable attempt to keep British wheels turning in the dirt. Based heavily on the championship-winning B40 ridden by Jeff Smith, the B44 Victor features a potent 441cc air-cooled single cylinder motor and lightweight chassis. Already a dinosaur by the time of its launch (being outpaced by its 2-stroke European competition), the Victor remains to this day perhaps as the pinnacle of British 4-stroke off road capability. This particular example has undergone a stunning (some would say “over the top”) restoration with excess chrome and polished alloy. Too pretty to ride in the dirt? You decide.
